So here's a little background information that you can have for free, just to help you on your way!

The modern day motor-scooter originated in Italy soon after World War 2, Vespa and Lambretta being the two brands that would soon dominate the world.

Popular misconception is that scooters were at their height during the infamous seaside riots between Mods & Rockers in the UK during the 60s.

However, the 1950s saw the peak sales for scooters here in Great Britain for example. And here, as in other scooter producing countries around the world (yes, there was a British scooter industry for a short while!), the Italian giants took the number one spot in both sales and arguably style too.

The Mod fashion actually began in the late 50s. By the time of the infamous Bank Holiday riots (the content of which were certainly exaggerated by the press at the time), many 'real' Mods had moved on to other things, some however still retaining their scooters.

By the late 70s it was all happening again, a Mod revival fuelled by a certain film, and bands like The Jam and the modern ska sound of 2-Tone.

Scooters have always, and continue to form part of everyday day life for people in many countries around the world, regardless of the current fashion status. At the end of the day, it's first and foremost task is of daily commuting.

The number of films and stars that have utilised the humble Vespa and Lambretta scooter are endless; from Roman Holiday to Quadrophenia, Absolute Beginners to The Talented Mr Ripley, BBC TV's Citizen Smith to Eastenders, whilst on the musical front Count Basie, Bo Diddley, Paul Weller and Oasis have all featured scooters on various album/ CD covers.
